Be More

A guided session for the voice that says "that's not me". The voice that says "that's not me" isn't telling the truth. It's reading back what was true once like it's a law. This session replaces it with a more accurate one.

The talk

Before we go anywhere, let me say something about a voice you know.

It's the one that says "I'm not that kind of person." "I could never do what he does." "That's not me." It sounds like honesty. It sounds like you being realistic about yourself. It isn't. It's a recording. It's something that was true once, maybe at nineteen, maybe last year, playing back like it's a law.

Here's what's actually true. Yes, people are born different. Some of it's real. But the research on the brain is in, and it's not close: the wiring changes when you learn. Not a little. Every time you do a new thing, the brain lays new road. Which means the honest statement isn't "anybody can do anything." It's this: you can do a whole lot more than you currently know you can. The gap between what you've done and what you could do is bigger than that voice will ever admit.

And that voice costs you twice. It costs you the thing you didn't try. And it costs you the enjoyment of right now, because you spend right now listening to it.

So this session isn't about hyping you up. It's about replacing that voice with a more accurate one. One that's for you instead of against you. One that says "let's see" instead of "not me." You're going to walk somewhere in your mind where you can try things on, pick one thing, try it on, and find out it fits. And you're going to meet the better voice while you're there.

"Let's see." Two words, instead of "not me."
Headphones help. Lying down helps. Listen all the way through once; after that the talk is the part you'll come back to. Not for use while driving. These are relaxation sessions, not medical or psychological treatment.
